Not everybody is religous – but if you have a Russian connection – you may be interested in knowing a little about the Russian Church in Ireland.   It is quite interesting.  I have put a few links below – and  I encourage you to read some of them – particularly the story about the Cosbys in Co Laois. The Story of St. Colmans Church.

The article below has been moved from the old website. I hope it is still accurate – please check before you visit.

The main Russian Orthodox Church in Ireland is in Harold’s Cross in Dublin but there are also others in:
 Athlone – Holy Theophany Parish
 Belfast – St Finnian’s Parish
 Drogheda – Parish of the entrance of the Holy Theotokos into the temple
 Galway – St Nicholas Parish
 Stradbally – St. Colman’s Parish
 Limerick – St. Michael’s Church, Denmark St.
 Cork – Holy Trinity Church, Fr. Matthew’s Quay, Cork (entrance to the left of main entrance)
 Waterford – St Patrick’s Parish
The Harold’s Cross Church was originally an Episcopal church which was built in 1838. Orthodox
Patriarchal metodichion in Harold’s Cross Church was opened in November 2001 after Metropolitan Kirill’s
visit to Ireland. Blessing of the Church took place in 2003. Liturgy services take place every Saturday and
Sunday (time usually 10am, as in most of the churches).
A multinational community which attends the church includes Russians, Ukranians, Moldovans, Georgians,
Serbians, Irish and French. There is a language and music school at the church as well as a children’s choir.
Russian Orthodox services usually last between 1 1/2 to 2 hours and there are either none or very few seats.
The church in Stradbally Co. Laois is the only purpose built Russian Orthodox Church in the country. The
others are located in churches that formerly belonged to other religions. The church is located one mile off
the main street on the Cork road. Services are monthly and if you are interested in more information, please
contact Jenny on 083 3491118 or 0599171899. The website for the church is: http://www.st-colmanchurch.org/html_en/directory-en.html
The person to contact for events in the Waterford church including Easter preparation and singing) is Lena
(email: konon.lena@mail.ru) or 087-9802274
